Business Solutions and GIS Supervisor |
The County of Haliburton is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the newly created full-time, permanent position of Business Solutions and GIS Supervisor.
Reporting to the Director of IT, the Business Solutions and GIS Supervisor will play a crucial role in optimizing business processes and utilizing Geographical Information System (GIS) technologies to enhance our spatial data analysis. This position will collaborate with various departments at the County and four local municipalities to understand their needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement solutions that drive efficiency and informed decision-making. The Business Solutions and GIS Supervisor will provide direction and support for GIS staff by planning and assigning work tasks, providing on-going training, and managing performance. The successful applicant will have completed post-secondary education in Business Administration, Geographic Information Systems or a related discipline. They must have proven experience as a Business Analyst, analytical and problem-solving abilities and leadership. Supervise the effective use of business solutions and GIS solutions across the organization. Plan, organize, and direct the work of County GIS staff, ensuring all work is completed in line with the County’s IT policies, procedures, and protocols. Provides input to the Director of IT regarding budgetary and procurement requirements. DECISION MAKING AND INDEPENDENCE Delegating and assigning work tasks to GIS staff. Successful Flagperson/Labourer candidates will have experience in traffic control and be able to perform heavy manual labour duties in an outside environment. This position requires a valid G licence. DZ licence considered an asset. The 2024 hourly rate for this unionized CUPE position is $19.42. Engineering Technologist - Capital Projects |
Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Engineering Technologist - Capital Projects is responsible for the completion of all pre-engineering surveys, including design drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and tender preparation for construction and maintenance projects. This position will have a focus on Asset Management and Project Management. This position also performs construction inspection as required on capital road projects. Successful candidates will have 2-3 years municipal work experience in road construction and maintenance and knowledge of all relevant legislation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with staff, contractors and the public. Candidates should possess a college diploma in Civil Engineering or Survey Technology or equivalent work experience and be proficient in Civil 3D-AUTOCAD, Arc Map, Microsoft Office Suite, Total Station survey, and GPS technology. Job Description: POSITION SYNOPSIS AND PURPOSE Reporting to the Chief/Director of EMS, Deputy Chief – Operations, and Deputy Chief – Quality Assurance & Education, this position is responsible for providing transportation and emergency medical care to ill or injured persons to, from and between medical treatment facilities in specially equipped ambulance vehicles and/or aircraft and to assist medical staff at the receiving facility as required. Primary Care Paramedics have the interchangeable role of driver and attendant, who provide effective assessment, treatment, and transportation of patients to medical and/or any other facility. This is accomplished with respect for the patient’s needs and confidentiality. NOTE: It should be understood that the pre-hospital care field is a dynamic environment with constantly changing treatments, policies and procedures established through evidence based best practice, current research and ongoing medical studies. Therefore, the patient care component of the job description may be subject to alteration to reflect these changing needs, so as to provide our patients with the best care possible. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs emergency medical care duties in accordance with Haliburton County Paramedic Service Policies & Procedures, Ministry of Health Basic Life Support Patient Care Standards. Training may include some skills and procedures that require medical control in accordance with program standards, guidelines, methods, procedures and techniques by: f) administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen, and manual ventilation using BVM’s, suction devices, non-endotracheal airways, to restore, improve or maintain airway patency and heart and lung function; 2. Provides, as per policy, ongoing patient care duties upon arrival at the medical facility by: 3. Performs as per policy administrative, maintenance and other related duties within the ambulance service by: b) ensuring that the ambulance exterior, interior, equipment and supplies are always clean and serviceable; 4.
