Haliburton County EMS is following a stroke protocol, so if you or a family member are having signs and symptoms of a stroke our paramedics will take you directly to a stroke centre. Currently there are two stroke center's we go to. One is Peterborough Regional Health Centre and Huntsville District Memorial Centre. Depending where you live in the County will determine which hospital you will be taken to, as time is critical.
Signs and Symptoms of a stroke
- Unilateral arm/leg weakness or drift
- Slurred or inappropriate words or mute
- Facial droop
If you experience any of these Signs and Symptoms call 911 immediately.
Below are two downloadable PDF files which are pamphlets for each individual hospital explaining the stroke protocol more clearly. You will require Adobe Reader to view the files. It's free!
