Official Plan | As one of the key recommendations of the Strategic Plan, the County of Haliburton developed a County Official Plan. The County of Haliburton Official Plan came into force effect March 14, 2006. This document establishes a land use and planning framework for local official plans and decision-making at the County and local levels. As such, it has a broad, rather general focus which is intended to guide local municipalities and enhance the local official plan policies. The following Official Plan documents are available to be downloaded in pdf format using adobe acrobat reader which may be downloaded and installed free of charge from the Adobe website. | | With the approval of the County Official plan came the delegation of approval authority for all local Official Plans and Official Plan Amendments. The local municipalities all have recently approved Official Plans now in effect. The local municipal official plans that are more prescriptive and geographically significant in their intent. For information regarding lower tier plans, please contact the municipal offices listed under County and Local Governments. Amendments to the Official Plan for the County of Haliburton must be adopted by County Council and approved by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The Official Plan is reviewed periodically and changes in policy are recommended to County Council. The County has recently initiated a five-year review of the Official Plan.
