Official Plan

As one of the key recommendations of the Strategic Plan, the County of Haliburton developed a County Official Plan.

The County of Haliburton Official Plan came into force effect March 14, 2006. This document establishes a land use and planning framework for local official plans and decision-making at the County and local levels. As such, it has a broad, rather general focus which is intended to guide local municipalities and enhance the local official plan policies.

With the approval of the County Official plan came the delegation of approval authority for all local Official Plans and Official Plan Amendments. The local municipalities all have recently approved Official Plans now in effect. The local municipal official plans that are more prescriptive and geographically significant in their intent. Amendments to the Official Plan for the County of Haliburton must be adopted by County Council and approved by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The Official Plan is reviewed periodically and changes in policy are recommended to County Council.
