September 17, 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Haliburton, ON – The County of Haliburton is pleased to announce it has received $25,000 from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). The funding will be used to strengthen and expand the Hike Haliburton Festival, one of Canada’s largest annual hiking festivals.
The Hike Haliburton Festival, organized by the County of Haliburton, draws visitors from across Ontario and beyond to experience the region’s scenic trails, vibrant fall colours, and unique outdoor adventures. Each February and September, the festival features dozens of guided hikes, nature-based activities, and cultural experiences, showcasing the natural beauty and warm hospitality of the Haliburton Highlands.
“This funding will allow us to enhance the festival experience, support our local tourism sector, and attract even more visitors to discover the trails and communities of the Haliburton Highlands,” said Haliburton County Warden Dave Burton. “In particular, we will be able to improve the registration process to make it easier for participants to plan and book their hikes, while continuing to grow and enrich the overall festival experience.”
“Tourism is a cornerstone of vibrant rural economies across southern Ontario. By supporting the Hike Haliburton Festival, the Government of Canada is helping to strengthen local businesses, and showcase the unique natural beauty of communities like the Haliburton Highlands,” said the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario.
By investing in the Hike Haliburton Festival, the County of Haliburton will not only elevate the visitor experience but also create new opportunities for local businesses, guides, and cultural partners.
This year’s fall Hike Haliburton Festival runs from September 18–21, 2025, offering a wide range of free, guided hikes and experiences for all ages and skill levels.
