Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation (KLH) Seeking New Directors

The Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation (KLH) is seeking two individuals to serve as directors on the corporation’s volunteer Board of Directors. Experience in municipal or non-profit governance is not required.

Vision – Quality affordable housing with support services across all of our communities.
Mission – Lead and collaborate with others to create a variety of quality, safe, accessible, sustainable, and affordable housing for the residents of Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton.

The KLH Housing Corporation provides rent-geared-to-income and market rent housing housing for a diverse population of low-income households in 819 units across the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton in: Omemee, Lindsay, Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon, Minden and Haliburton. KLH also develops housing to meet the growing housing needs of our communities.

KLH is seeking individuals with passion and vision to contribute to the diversity of perspectives, skills, and expertise of our 11-member volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is prioritizing individuals with experience in any of the following:

■ lived experience in community housing;

■ housing development, financial services, real estate law, or residential property management;
■ human resources, communications, public relations, or partnership development;
■ partner sectors such as health care including mental health and addictions treatment, social services, policing and criminal justice, government, education; and
■ a commitment to community service.

To be eligible applicants must be a resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes or the County of Haliburton and at least 18-years of age. Experience serving on the board of a nonprofit agency or similar community committee would be beneficial but is not required. 

Successful candidates will hold director positions for a four-year term ending in 2029, with the possibility of a second term.
