Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation Seeking New Directors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation is seeking three to four individuals to serve as directors on the corporation’s Board of Directors. One new director will be a Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation tenant. Experience in municipal governance is not required.

Vision – Quality affordable housing with support services across all of our communities.

Mission – Lead and collaborate with others to create a variety of quality, safe, accessible, sustainable, and affordable housing for the residents of Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton.

We are looking for motivated and experienced individuals with the skills, passion and vision to contribute to the diversity of perspectives, skills, and expertise of our 11 member volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is prioritizing individuals with one or more of the following:

■ experience living in Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation housing;

■ experience in housing development, financial services, real estate law, or residential property management;

■ expertise and skills in human resources, communications, public relations, or partnership development;

■ participation in partner sectors such as health care including mental health and addictions treatment, social services, policing and criminal justice, government, education.

Successful candidates will hold director positions for a four year term ending in 2025, with the possibility of a second term.

To be eligible applicants must be a resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes or the County of Haliburton and at least 18 year of age. Experience serving on the board of a non-profit agency or similar community committee would be beneficial, but is not required.
