MEDIA RELEASE
The County of Haliburton, in partnership with Haliburton Highlands Family Health Organization (physicians practice) and Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS), is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeet George will be joining the Haliburton Highlands Family Health Organization, as a primary health care provider, and HHHS as of May 1, 2026.
Dr. George holds a medical degree from the University of Kerala, India and advanced international qualifications, including MRCGP (UK), MRCP Part 2 (UK), FRACGP (Australia), and JCCA/DRGA in Anesthesia, reflecting broad expertise in general practice, emergency medicine, and procedural anesthesia.
He practiced medicine in the UK for 8 years before relocating to Australia. He has been practicing a combination of family, emergency and GP anesthesia in Australia for the past 17 years.
Dr. George will be rostering 700 new patients in Haliburton County and has committed to provide medical services here for 6 years.
Dr. George contacted staff in February 2025 in response to a job posting on the British Medical Journal website. He and his family travelled from Australia to visit Haliburton County and did a tour of our medical facilities in August 2025. ''My family and I are beyond excited for this big move. This started from a response to a job advertisement a bit more than a year ago. Looking at the stunning area and surroundings, we had to visit; we were captivated and bowled over when we did. The steadfast support, provided by recruitment coordinator, Wendy Welch, and the local physicians and administration staff, was instrumental in making this happen. We are finally ready and look forward to being a part of this wonderful community" stated Dr. George.
In a statement from the HHFHO (physicians practice) they stated, “We are beyond pleased that Dr. George has decided to join our organization. We know he and his family will be welcomed in our community and we look forward to increasing patient attachment to primary health care services.”
“HHHS is thrilled to welcome another talented physician to our community. Recruitment like this doesn’t happen without dedication behind the scenes, and we’re incredibly grateful to the county for their continued commitment to connecting great doctors with our organization. Their work plays a vital role in bringing more health and wellbeing to the Highlands.” Commented Lauren Ernst, Chief Communications Officer.
Dr. Paul Faulkner, Chief of Staff at HHHS adds, “Having another emergency physician join our team is incredibly meaningful for both our staff and our community. Emergency departments rely on strong, collaborative teams, and adding another skilled doctor helps ensure we can continue delivering timely, high-quality care to everyone who walks through our doors. It’s a wonderful step forward for healthcare in our region.”
“We are delighted to welcome a new physician to the Haliburton Highlands and grateful they have chosen to make our community their home,” said Haliburton County Warden Dave Burton. “Relocating from Australia to practice medicine here speaks volumes about their commitment to rural healthcare and to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. On behalf of County Council and our residents, I extend a warm welcome and sincere thanks for bringing your skills, compassion, and dedication to our region.”
Please join us in welcoming Dr. George to the area.
