Sign Permits

Establishing entrances, transporting heavy loads, placing signs or billboards or temporarily obstructing and/or holding events on or along county roads all require permits. 

You will need an entrance permit if you are making or changing a property entrance on a County road.

You will need an OD permit if you are transporting any vehicle and load combination on a County road in excess of the limits set by the Ministry of Transportation.

An OD permit is required if your vehicle and load is greater than:

  • Length of 23 m
  • Width of 2.6 m
  • Height of 4.15 m

You will need a road occupancy permit if you are doing any work that temporarily blocks or occupies a portion of a County road or road allowance. There is no fee for low-impact requests.

You will need a sign permit to put up or alter an advertising sign along a County road.

Field advertising signs (billboards) are only permitted on the following roads:

  • County Road 1 (Gelert Road)
  • County Road 3 (Glamorgan Road)
  • County Road 14 (Haliburton Lake Road)
  • County Road 21
  • County Road 48 (Dyno Road)
  • County Road 121
  • County Road 503
  • County Road 507
  • County Road 648 (Loop Road).

Please note that new field advertising permits are not being issued at this time.

You will need a special events permit if you are holding an event on the Haliburton County Rail Trail. Your permit does not allow for exclusive use of the trail. There is no fee for this permit.
